I completely agree with Laremy Legel’s review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. He describes it as “a big summer action film in the best sense of the genre, with legitimate character development and complex motivations helping to keep even the shortest of attention spans satiated”. I think this is an appropriate comment because throughout the film, the three main characters take a journey that’s filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep the audience interested. Also, these three main characters are analyzed and built up throughout the movie. Who they really are and what they stand for are completely portrayed by the actors. Since this movie was the last in its series, it had to be something that totally satisfied the audience and tied up all loose ends. Legel addresses this in his review saying how everything ended up in its “proper place” and “the spirit of Potter resolute”.

I strongly disagree with Brian Gibson’s review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. In his review, he states “pacing and logic gets shouldered aside”. I don’t think that’s the case at all. First of all, the movie is split into two parts for a reason: pacing. The director does that to make sure everything is included and spread out evenly. Also, I don’t even understand how logic can get pushed aside because in a fiction film about wizards and dragons, there’s not much logic in the first place. Another complaint Gibson has is that “the megabudget's race through the shallows of plot shoots the movie past all hope for emotional depth or story profundity”. A specific example that flat out proves that statement wrong is the scene where Harry tells Hermione and Ron that he’s going to the forest to let Voldemort kill him. That part almost sent me to tears.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is a terrific film filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep the audience interested. The use of digital effects enhances the film and makes it more exciting. Specifically when Voldemort and the Death Eaters swarm Hogwarts, all the cool sound and visual effects make the scene more interesting. The character development is also very well done throughout the movie. Each character is built up and analyzed, which leaves the audience with a lasting impression of who they are and what they stand for. From roaming through forests looking for horcruxes to Harry battling Voldemort in a fight to the death, each scene in the film is filled with emotion. While looking for horcruxes, feelings of hopelessness and worry are constantly expressed, and when Harry fights Voldemort, feelings of anger and hatred are clearly there. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is just an all-together good movie that I recommend.
