Curfew is a very interesting film and I can clearly see why it won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. It's about this guy Richie who, at the lowest point in his life, gets a call from his sister asking to babysit her daughter. The daughter is very curious and intelligent, and questions him about his life decisions. After spending the day with this little girl and later having a promising talk with his sister, he learns valuable lessons about the bonds of family and the unexpected joys of life. I do think it's interesting, however, that after all of this he goes home and begins to cut himself once again. I guess that's just to prove the severity of his addiction and the depression he's going through. I thought it was a very well-done film in totality. It was emotionally powerful, and carried a message about self harm and drugs and relationships with family. The character development was great because I personally got very attached to the two main characters and wanted the best for them (which was hard considering both of them live tough lives).
